Trauma Therapy

Trauma-informed therapy in Mississauga & across Ontario

Trauma can affect how safe you feel in your body, your relationships, your choices, and your sense of self. It may involve a single event, repeated experiences, attachment wounds, discrimination, loss, or years of having to stay alert and manage alone. I offer trauma-informed virtual psychotherapy for adults and adolescents in Ontario, with attention to safety, pacing, and the complexity of what you have lived through.

Support

What trauma-informed psychotherapy can help with

Trauma therapy can support both current symptoms and the longer story behind them.

Feeling on edge, shut down, numb, reactive, or disconnected

PTSD symptoms, intrusive memories, avoidance, nightmares, or shame

Relational trauma, attachment injuries, boundary difficulties, or mistrust

Grief, identity changes, or the impact of painful life experiences

Self-criticism, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or difficulty asking for support

Trauma connected with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or major transitions

Approach

Safety, pacing, and meaning

Trauma-informed therapy does not require you to tell everything before you are ready. We begin by noticing what feels manageable, what helps you stay grounded, and what your system has had to do to survive. Over time, we can make space for memory, emotion, relationships, and the protective patterns that may now feel limiting.

Pace carefully

Move at a speed that respects your capacity and avoids unnecessary overwhelm.

Build stability

Develop supports for grounding, boundaries, emotional regulation, and daily life.

Explore meaning

Understand how past experiences may shape current reactions, relationships, and self-beliefs.

A good fit if you want therapy that does not rush your story

This approach may be helpful if you want support that is careful, relational, and attentive to both symptoms and context. We can work with trauma directly or indirectly, depending on what feels possible and useful.

Common Questions

Trauma Therapy FAQ

Do I have to talk about traumatic events right away?
No. We can begin with what is happening now, what helps you feel steady, and what you want from therapy. Details can be approached gradually if and when that feels useful.
Is trauma therapy only for PTSD?
No. Trauma-informed therapy can also support relational trauma, chronic stress, grief, attachment wounds, and experiences that continue to affect how you feel and relate.
Are sessions available outside Mississauga?
Yes. Sessions are virtual and available to clients located anywhere in Ontario.
